From the early arrival of trillium in area woodlands, to the late fall wild asters, there is always something in bloom close by! Nothing is more inspiring that watching bulbs burst forth, seeds spring into plants and blooms bobbing in the breeze. Endless color, shapes, and patterns! For me, growing and painting go hand in hand,

Animals are such fun to paint. Whether it is a farm animal along the side of the road or a family pet, I enjoy the challenge of trying to get a good likeness. I know how much animals are loved by everyone, but particularly owners. Animal paintings make people happy!
The woods are full of discovery for me. It is a delight for all the senses. The smells and sounds, the light filtering through trees and dramatic shadows, all are beautiful parts of the whole experience. From the tiniest mosses and lichen to the majesty of trees soaring overhead, there is so much to see and feel. The colors and light are awe inspiring!
Into the Light
Miller Hill Maples
I am a country girl at heart! I live for vast open spaces and endless skies. The seasons, the constantly changing lighting, the variety of weather conditions, make each and every country vista new and fresh.
There is never a dull moment in the country!

I am blessed to be able to daily wander acres of land, made up of orchards, gardens, fields and woods. The seasons bring constant change and color. The fruit trees, vegetables and flowers surprise me with their bounty and beauty! The sky, from its clearest blue bird color to the drama of storm clouds, full rainbows and everything in between, is ever changing and inspiring! All of this grounds me and gives me a heightened sense of place and joy!

I draw my inspiration from nature. Whether it is scenes or objects, I try to capture an essence rather than an exact rendition. Using oil or watercolor as my medium, I put brush to canvas or paper to share my vision and to tell a story of how I see nature. For me it is always about light and color, seeing color inside color. Using loose brushwork, I try to make color against color sing. Taking risks is part of the adventure. Painting always takes me on a journey and I never know where it will take me. That process is fun!
My goal is to inspire others to see the world a little differently, to see something new, to see not only beauty in the extraordinary, but also in the ordinary. And hopefully to look at the world a little more carefully.
